Moldavian Journal of the Physical Sciences

Dear colleagues,

The main goal of the Moldavian Journal of Physical Sciences is to contribute to establishing a knowledge-based society in the Republic of Moldova, since knowledge represents a key factor of economic and social development. It is not an exaggeration to say that physics plays a role of a connecting link for other disciplines such as chemistry, agriculture, environmental and biological sciences, since they use the laws of physics to better understand the nature of their own topics. One can say that physics is everywhere around us, since everything around us is matter and fields, and any kind of their interaction is subjected to the physical laws. Physics is also the basis of any sort of technologies related to mechanics, electricity, magnetism, thermodynamics etc. The role of physics is also essential in the general education, especially in the engineering education. The actual state of the modern physics opens even broader opportunities at the interface of various disciplines such as physics and chemistry, physics and biology, physics and medicine etc. The interdisciplinarity is even more demanded with the development of nanotechnologies. Nanotechnologies bring together a whole array of different disciplines such as physics, materialsciences, electronics, photonics, information technologies, and biotechnologies, with a potential toachieve a tremendous improvement in human abilities, the nation’s productivity, and thequality of life.

Both production of knowledge through scientific research and dissemination of knowledge through publishing the results of research are indispensable parts of the same scientific process. Moreover, production of knowledge would be impossible without their dissemination. Moldavian scientists are deeply integrated into the European and global research process by creating collaborative consortia and by publishing the results of their research in journals worldwide. On the other hand we welcome publishing by foreign authors their works in our Moldavian Journal of Physical Sciences. Physical sciences are well developed in Moldova for many decades and they covers a wide range of research fields, including fundamental theoretical research, experimental physics and material science, development of devices, their characterization and implementation. The Moldavian Journal of Physical Sciences is an Open access peer-reviewed journal free of charge both for contributing authors and for readers, therefore aiming to a wide and effective dissemination of knowledge. One reason behind the open access is to maximize the research impact of published papers through their wide dissemination. One should note that Open Science is strongly supported by the European scientific community.

Being the journal of the Moldavian Physical Society it is co-funded by the D. Ghitu Institute of Electronic Engineering and Nanotechnologies, Institute of Applied Physics, State University of Moldova, and it contributes to the consolidation of research capacities from different research institutions from Moldova, including Technical University of Moldova, Alecu Russo State University of Balti, Tiraspol State University and others. We kindly invite researchers from these and other institutions in Moldova as well as authors from any other countries worldwide to publish their papers in the Moldavian Journal of Physical Sciences. By covering the niche of interdisciplinearity we invite also the authors to publish reviews with breakthrough results in various fields related to physics, alongside original papers with a narrow specific topic. The journal welcome also publishing of proceedings of conferences organized in Moldova in the field of physics, material science, device physics related to electronics, optoelectronics, nanoelectronics, spintronics and related disciplines.

We hope that our journal will play a role of a hub for creating partnerships between research institutions, universities, innovative firms and industry stakeholders inside Moldova and worldwide, therefore contributing to international scientific cooperation.

Editor-in-chief of the journal,
